Second Annual Holiday Tree Lighting
Ferncliff Cemetery Association held its second annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 8, 2007. Over 1,000 association members and guests attended the event which was held in the Rosewood Mausoleum. Everyone in attendance received a memorial holiday ornament which could be placed on the Ferncliff tree, or brought home and placed on their own trees.
This years tree was over fourteen foot tall and was decorated with over 6,000 lights. The ceremony included speaches by Kevin Boyd, president of Ferncliff, and an emotional non-denominational homily by Father Joseph Blenke of -Holy Name of Jesus Church of Valhalla. Once again, the Cobblestone Carolers, dressed in traditional holiday costumes, entertained the crowd with a large number of festive songs, and Gertsky Catering of Mahopac provided the refreshments..
The cemetery extended its hours after the formal ceremony to allow families additional time for visitation. |
